A friend aged 90 , who lives alone, just told me that yesterday a man rang her doorbell and told her that he was there to undertake her blood test. As she had no advance notification about this, as is usual, either from her GP or the hospital, she questioned him further. She asked him which hospital/ laboratory he was from and sought to establish his identity. He gave her no information through the entry phone, then called her from his mobile and repeated that he was there to give her a blood test . Again, my friend insisted that he provide further and better particulars and yet again he failed to identity himself or give any details. Accordingly, my friend refused him access to her building.

Possible Scam
I would actually be more suspicious of a robbery attempt than a scam in this situation. This is definitely a case of better safe than sorry. I would expect that a patient would know in advance they were due for a lab. Hopefully she let her hospital/provider know about the incident.

Thanks Mostew. At 90, my friend is still sharp witted. Must be all that chocolate she consumes.
This problem has been going on for over a week or so as jedi chris tried to point out but members to the forum thought he was joking! Definetly a problem with the site as texting and email fine.
Well done to your friend and thank goodness she had her wits about her. I would say the only thing he was there to take was money or other goods or trip to bank. She should report it to the police. The next person may not be as on the ball.
