I’m falling to bits!!! Shingles now

hi all,

Well update on me is that I have just started and had my first interferon injection for my ET on Thursday as I am suffering with various systems but my two main ones being fatigue and intense itching.

On the Tuesday of this week I was suffering with major toothache from the weekend so managed to get into the dentist to find I have a tooth abscess

I am on medication for BP and have been for some years, current medication being

HRT, 3x BP meds daily, amoxicillin, paracetamol (for tooth abscess) fexofenadine for itching Aspirin

Had the worst night ever last night itching but then turned to excruciating pain, rang 111 for advice as I had a rash, call from doc said arm was inflamed but see how I go, it has progressed through the say for me to see that blisters are starting to come though ( I have had shingles before)

I thought during the night the pain was that is shingles but wasn’t sure now the blisters have formed, I am currently awaiting a call back again from another doc on 111 as I will now need medication for this.

I am honestly at my wits end as I have no idea what meds or how many more I could possibly take. I am so down and exhausted with all this at the minute, I really done know where to turn… bearing in mind it’s bank holiday in the UK

Sorry all just all you lovely people will know what I am going through xx

Well you’re really going through the mill at the moment. I know how you feel re the multiple meds. I’m also on BP and statins as well as 4 Anagrelide per day, plus occasional pain killers for arthritis (I try to avoid those as much as possible) the shingles sound nasty. I’ve asked about the shingles vaccine but can’t have it until I’m 70 next year! Sending ya virtual hug and hope you’re soon feeling better.

Thank you lizzziep

It just seems never ending doesn’t it?

Then they wonder why we get depression and anxiety with all this going on!

I believe my tooth abscess is not healing so quick either on the antibiotics and assuming this is due to our compromised immune system, I’m still in pain on day 6 😫

I have had shingles once before and the pain was bad but this time it has come in my ‘itching area’ so at first I was just ‘rubbing away’ (I rub with my cold flannel instead of scratching all the time) lol….and then it just changed to immense pain and I kind of guessed but just had a red mark/rash, later in the day it developed into small blisters forming

It just shows doesn’t it, apart from the ‘normal bits of health issues’ I have been generally ok through my life with my health.

Getting older is definitely no fun… 🤦‍♀️

Thank you for your kind words and keep safe xxx

Oh dear. I had shingles recently and it was awful. I did have the antivirals, which I’m sure helped me and is recommended. And the pharmacist gave me fairly strong painkillers. Sending thoughts and wishes

I have had my x3 vaccines not sure where we are at with the 4th yet, although I did receive a text from my GP surgery stating they will be contacting eligible patients at the end of this month for covid and flu vaccs
