After 2 1/2 years of playing hide & seek with COVID 19, the virus has caught up with us. We have both tested positive, possibly down to one person, knowing he/she was positive and still went to work.

Now staying at home until we get a clear test result..

The NHS have new treatments which can help treat COVID-19. Based on information in your medical records, you may be suitable for one. This treatment needs to be given quickly to be effective. The NHS will call you directly to discuss if this medicine is right for you. Please have ready a list of all medicines you currently receive/take, the doctor you speak to will need this information. If you do not hear from the NHS within 24 hours, contact your GP surgery during the day or call 111 in the evening or at weekends.

Yes I got Covid the other week & was really poorly chest like a rock on it. Contacted Hospital within 24hrs of testing positive but they refused anti virals giving no reason . Referred me to my local Dr for antibiotics. 5 days in bed feeling I was kicked by a horse but came through it & ok . Headache & terrible sore throat like razor blades & aching 👍

Antibiotics wouldn't help with such a viral infection. It's possible you had a secondary infection that indicated it, but your symptoms sound like covid.

"No reason" is not a good reason, frustrating.

We had the original Wuhan model, near killed my husband, the current covid is rarely that deadly, but your misery is still very real.

Yes I had a big argument with anti virul unit as did my GP. I had no chest infection I had tested positive for Covid & had Covid. This is just a string of problems at our main hospital & 111 services like the rest of NHS system currently it’s very bad service .

You likely have BA.5. They says it's more contagious than measles. But on average not as nasty as delta from last year.

The treatment they refer is likely paxlovid. It is effective to reduce hi risk covid. With your history I'd think Drs would authorize it. But some other meds are not compatible, sometimes they pause the other meds, if possible, to enable the pax therapy. You've likely seen news about rebound with it, they say it is still working, but they are considering to change its Rx to more than the current 5 days to finish off the virus more completely.

It is supposed to be started within 5 days.

The other category is antibody infusions, they sometimes use this esp if pax is not suitable.
