While my platelets refused to budge much on Interferon since stopping it the joints in my hands and feet have become painful my hips and lower back ache. My skin is much dryer and nails more brittle. I have a colonoscopy booked next week once done I will restart the dreaded HU. It will be interesting to see what it helps with, skin and nails weren't great as I recall.

I hope this go at HU works better. Unfortunately it can cause problems with skin and nails. I think you may have discussed this before but did your care team consider ruxolitinib or anagrelide to treat the ET?

Wishing you all the best as you move forward.

Only Anagrelide, because of heart issues she didn't think that suitable. I will try the hu again but doubt it will be any different this time. Hopefully seeing Professor Harrison won't be to long.

Hopefully Dr. Harrison can help with some other options that may be more suitable. Perhaps even a clinical trial of one of the newer agents.

Hi ciyeHow long did you try interferon for? It took a good year before I saw my platelets drop and 18months to two years before they got into normal ranges. Everyone is different (that’s what makes us amazing) but I was surprised how long it took for my platelets to behave.

Good luck with your ET journey

Over a year, the side effects at the higher doses were to much to cope with.

Over a year, I simply couldn't cope with the side effects at higher doses.
