Hello friends, by now I should have been almost at the end of conditioning chemotherapy. However, after admission to hospital on 19th June I was told on the 20th that my donor has Covid! I therefore had to go home the following day. Luckily the chemotherapy hadn't yet started or I would have had to stay in.
It's a delay rather than a disaster but it's very unsettling after psyching myself up for a particular date.
The silver lining (trying to be positive here!) is that it allows time for my newly inserted Hickman Line to settle in properly, as it has been quite uncomfortable.
Now just waiting for my donor to have two negative tests and for a bed to be available (although I will now have priority).
I will update again when I finally go in.
Best wishes, Jennie

Ah Jennie- really sorry to hear you've had a delay like this for such a momentous event. Glad you are still trying to stay positive and fingers crossed all goes well for the next date. We are all thinking of you lots.Heidi x
Oh, Jennie, sorry to hear about this delay. It must be so frustrating. Hopefully, your donor will recover quickly and you can get back on schedule. Thanks for the update. All the best,
Really feeling for you. Such a buildup but just a set back and we hope the new date when you get it goes to plan. Wishing you all the best and lots of luck.

Good to hear from you Jennie even if it is with this disappointing news! Another bright side....Home cooking, ur own bed and ur dear husband. Hope its not too long and hope everything goes swimmingly 😘
Lost my first date due to Xmas scheduling issue, my second as I caught a cold and went ahead third time lucky (on my birthday). Stay safe so you are ready. Best wishes. Chris H
That bug certainly has a lot to answer for Jennie.Someone on one of my Facebook hip replacement groups reported that she reported to the hospital, only to be told her surgeon had just gone down with covid.
O tempora, o mores !!
Think of something special you can do while you wait for that double negative. Hopefully not too long to wait.
So sorry to hear of your delays but pray all goes well and ahead very soon and that your donor is also soon fully recovered. It must be very frustrating when you are geared up for this to have this delay, but covid is still rearing its ugly head sadly which as we know is beyond our control.
So sorry to hear of your delay! You must have psyched yourself up for the big day. Hope you don’t have too long to wait till your donor has recovered. Sending good wishes. Fran xx
