Hello friends!

I'm using Google translate now. I hope you will understand.

I have a question that I can not find an answer to online. It's about stem cell transplantation.

If this were to happen at some point in the future, how precise/exact does a match need to be?

My parents have different ethnic backgrounds. For example, my mother is 75% European and 25% African while my father is Swedish. I have no siblings.

Does my "match" need to have exactly the same percent ethnical background?

It would be difficult to find just such a match.

Hope you all are ok! You are all so kind.

/ Johan

Hello Johan,

no your donor must not have the same percent ethnical background, no worries. When down to the level of genes, the ethnical background is no longer something you need to worry about.

In general the match should be as compatible as possible, but as long as a SCT is not something you need to worry about right now, there is no need to find a matching donor.

In case you are interested, I can provide some links / information regarding SCT - can't do that right now, as I'm a bit in a rush.

Take care!
