Pneumonia update

Hello, all, as some of you may know, I was hospitalized with pneumonia 2 months ago. A ct scan was performed on my lungs the report stated that I may have pulmonary fibrosis. There are also some other concerns mentioned in the CAT scan so I went to see a pulmonologist the other day to get a second opinion. He said I do not have lung fibrosis. I do have something called atelactasis which is a partial collapse of a portion of my lungs, which is not as serious, believe it or not. I was relieved because I thought the hydroxyurea I’ve been taking for many years was causing fibrosis in my lungs. Thank you all for your concern from my original post.

All the best,

Cindy

Hello Cindy, good that you don't have lung fibrosis. Is there anything they can do for the partial collapse of part of your lung? Best wishes, Maz

Thanks, Maz. So I don’t really know what the treatment is for this. Sometimes it goes away on its own, but we’ll see.

Best wishes,

Cindy

Hey Cindy, , pleased diagnosis isn't as bad as you feared you must be relieved and hope there's a fix for the partial collapse , , do they reinflate your lung , no idea ! Anyway good to read some positive news. I believe many people have been left with varying degrees of lung Fibrosis due to Covid so if you've had it (I don't recall if you have ) it's good to be reassured on that too.

Hope you get sorted out soon.

Hi, Chris,Thanks for your caring response . So I also have no idea how to fix this. It’s shown up in a few X-rays a couple of times are over the last couple of years. The doctors don’t seem very concerned although I have some of the symptoms; a chronic hacking cough and shortness of breath. The pulmonologist wane to have another ct scan in a few weeks, to see if there is any improvement. And as far as I know, I never had Covid.

Best wishes,

Cindy

What a relief. I hope you are also feeling better. I had a collapsed lung after a motoring accident but after taking deep breaths whenever I thought about it, my lungs are back to normal.
