Feelings about travel

I’m wondering how people with ET feel about travelling. I would like to consider flying, a max 4 hour flight, my first for 2 years but feel very anxious about it all. My haematologist won’t advise just says it’s my decision but then told me some patients with MFD have caught Covid and been quite ill. I don’t know what to do and wonder how long we will have to worry about travelling for, years?

I have PV and taking my first flight since this all started in a few weeks.

I feel fairly relaxed about it, just had my 4th Jab so it should have had time to kick in by then. The flight itself doesn't worry me that much as the air is refreshed constantly, i think at the airport is the biggest risk, ill probably just try and avoid crowded places as much as possible. I know its not easy in security etc, i wonder if you are concerned could you go for the fast track security to minimise queues?

Hi, like you I have worried enormously about flying and Covid with ET. However, I have suddenly come to the point where I think though we still need to be careful, we have to start living our lives. I have always loved travel and at 66 life is too short not to do the things we love. We have just booked a holiday to Madeira for august, our first flight for over 2 years. I am apprehensive but also excited at the thought of doing something normal. Only you can decide if travelling is worth the risk but if you decide to go for it all you can do is take precautions, and have an amazing time 😃

People are getting covid in all sorts of places . Unless we stay in and see no one there will be some chance. But living life has many risks. Not just covid

I went to America a few months ago. That’s a long way and was stressful especially having been in living a very uneventful life for two years ….!

Didn’t get covid !

Life is short .

I have flown to Cyprus in Oct 2021 and now going to fly to cyprus again in May and USA in oct I love flying I wear flight tights and move around every hour and drink a lot of water and feel fine my hematologist said you have the same chance as Joe public of getting a clot and advised the water and tights and movement

Using a tight fitting FFP3 mask helps a lot but it must be tight fitting, I just had two 5 hour flights and only removed the mask for a few seconds to drink water, I didn’t get Covid.I was pretty anxious about it though.

Have been flying throughout much of COVID - long haul flights - fully vaxxed (4x) and take all precautions (masks; sanitize seating area; avoid crowds as much as possible (hard to do at security, gate and deplaning ) - but feel pretty OK with it
