Childrens Vaccination

Has anyone got any information on children above 5 who live with Clinically Extremely Vulnerable getting vaccinated? This is now recommended along with children who have any condition but I’ve not seen or heard any way of booking it. I’ve got two kids, 6 and 10, and, to be honest, the more protection in the family the better. Thanks

All I can find is this:

england.nhs.uk/2022/01/nhs-...

I'd suggest you nag your GP

You'll need an invitation to book and then it's the national booking system.Started the very first ones yesterday but only doing a few per day as they take more time.

Thanks. I didn’t realise it only started yesterday. I’ll wait a bit and see, maybe call doctors if I feel like a challenge.

Had a letter for my daughter who is 11 to have the vaccination. It is a paediatric version so a third of a dose now and third of a dose in 8 weeks. My daughter is 12 in a few months so have decided to wait to give her the full vaccination rather than have 2 small one ms now and a full 1 in a few months as we were told she would be called again for the full dose 2 weeks after she turns 12.That's our decision and yours may be different as depends on their ages

Thanks GK40. Can I ask if your daughter has any condition herself or is it purely that she lives with you? My kids are only 6 and 10 so a way off from the full dose so would go with the smaller dose if offered.

Purely because she lives with me. She is super fit and healthy herself. Like I said, we have decided to wait for the full dose as its only a few months away , if she was younger then our decision would probably be different.

Hi. I got a letter a couple of weeks ago for my 8 year old and it said to phone to make an appt. When I called they said there was a change of plan and they were doing all the kids that age who are vulnerable themselves first and then moving on to those living with vulnerable people so they'll call me back.

It may depend where you are though. I'm in the Highlands but I know of kids 8 and 9 done in Aberdeen already.

Good luck.

Of course. It was NHS Scotland. I'll see if I can attach a copy of it here but I'm not great with tech so don't count on it! 😊

Copy of letter.
