I was just wondering if anyone has taken Keto weight loss tablets while on Hydroxycarbamide for ET. There is a new product out called Best Health Keto UK and it claims to help with losing stubborn belly fat, I need this help! It does say it may not be suitable for people with thin blood, all of my blood count’s are within normal range. I would like to try them but am a little unsure if I can? Any advice would be great, thanks 😊

Thanks Maz, will try and contact them. Not the easiest people to get hold of and my normal appointment which is every three months and was supposed to be at the end of December has been put back by an extra two months! X
Hi Becky. With a question like this you need to speak to your specialist. They have the medical knowledge to answer it. I feel your frustration with needing to lose weight. Big hugs.
Obviously I am not qualified to advise you but personally I would steer well clear of weight loss pills. A healthy diet, avoiding sugar and processed food, processed carbs especially, worked for me a number of years ago and the weight stayed off. Again, this not advice, just my experience.
Hi Jennie , hope you're going along ok. I'm with you on this was considering a response on the same lines having looked at the sheer array of diet pills available. Seems some are appetite blockers and some reduce the bodies ability to absorb fat from food. Personally I've always had my doubts about the effectiveness if not part of a lifestyle change or a package. You will definitely lose a good few pounds from your purse or bank account as some were quite pricey for 1-3 months supply.
But should becky decide to give them a try and they work I'll be the first to reconsider my viewpoint.
Hope you are going along okay too and, importantly, feeling well. I am feeling surprisingly well thank you; I had a really encouraging phone consultation with one of the Guy's Hospital team this morning, confirming again that I'm in a very good position to go for the transplant. I had already made the decision but it was good to have such a positive view, especially regarding the risks.Hope you have a great Christmas, Jennie
And the same to you Jennie and you're loved ones for a lovely festive period . Try to put things aside for a short time and enjoy some of life's pleasures. Eat, drink be merry and all that.
I'm really pleased you've had such a positive call today, , it does help, enormously when you're in the right frame of mind going forward into it. It was like Onward Christian Soldiers for me and a fanfare of trumpets and I'm not just saying that because I came through it. Yes there's risks involved but best it's all up front and I'm sure you can take comfort in that you wouldn't be considered in the first place if you weren't a good candidate.
I looked at these pills, I even filled in my card details but have decided they may be "snake oil" if they worked as well as claimed then surely they would be free on the NHS . The financial burden of obesity is crippling. Lots of the celebs endorsing such products also spent hours doing workouts. My belly overhang is revolting, I have high bp and cardiomyopathy all would be improved by weight loss the quicker the better. These pills are sold as supplements and don't have to pass medical checks which is concerning. They may beneficial for some but God knows how they would interact with different meds, echoing others defiantly check with your consultant before purchase.
