Ear pressure and popping with ET
Cjmurray4, I too have had ear pressure ,tinnitus and 'popping 'for a number of years, a month ago I started having bouts of Vertigo which is absolutely horrible ended up in hospital for emergency treatment. Turns out I now have Arterial Arteritis which is dangerous . So PLEASE get yourself checked over, as it is very serious.I have PV with various other medical conditions.
Hi. This started with a terrible bout of vertigo after a 3 hour dentist appointment. After the two weeks of vertigo subsided the ear pressure and constant popping came. How are they treating it for you?
Hello , CJM4, at the moment I am having so many appointments with different specialists my head is spinning . It appears they are trying to come to a positive solution, at the moment I am having huge doses of Steroids to try and stabilise my situation, I have been told with my condition I will most likely be on steroids for the rest of my life. I am taking 6 per day for the foreseeable future. I also have to see my dentist because steroids can cause Osteoporosis in the jaws . The the prescription will be reviewed in a few weeks. If this is like your situation please get yourself checked over by your doc's. For me it is serious, but your condition might (hopefully) be different. Good Luck and better health. June x
Have you asked your dentist about this, as it started after a treatment by the dentist?
I have ET treating with hydroxy and aspirin. I have had the same issue over the years, long before being diagnosed with ET and in my case it is due to sinus inflammation triggered by allergies. I get the ear pressure and popping and a ticking sound every allergy season. OTC decongestants takes care of it, but if it doesn't for you than I would check with a doctor.
Zyrtec D works the best for me. My husband though was given a different recommendation for a decongestant because of the medications he is on and uses Clariton D. I had tried the Clariton D and didn't think it as effective. The straight antihistamine formulations of zyrtec and clariton had no effect as near as I could tell.
Yes I do all the time but only since being diagnosed with ET. It was one of the first symptoms along with headaches. Not long after having been on Hydroxy it all eased off a lot and I did not have it for a while. However now it has returned. Sometimes it's like having your head in a tin can so that everything you hear (or strain to hear) is echoey and often I am missing conversations because of it. Some days one ear feels totally blocked. Have had ears checked and they are not! It then goes for a bit and comes back but it is constant at the moment. I am going to raise it at an appointment with Guys in a couple of weeks.
I have been diagnosed with Menieres Disease which is a vertigo thing which was very bad before diagnosis, at work i had upset stomachs, felt very faint and ended up in the rest room for much of the day. Glad diagnosed, take Betahistine Dihydrochloride which was like magic for me.
