Hello, all, as many of you know, I had my second BMB recently. I got my written report a couple days later with a note from my doctor saying to make an appointment 4 weeks out to discuss. The problem is the report had so much medical terminology that was over my head and was causing me much anxiety. So, I called and asked if I could at least have a quick teleconference to put my mind at ease.
The good news is that the nurse finally called yesterday and said my bone marrow had not changed in the last 2 years. However there was one item on my report that I brought to her attention. On my BMB from 2 years ago, it says there was “no significant reticulin fibrosis” and on the most recent one it says “moderate to severe reticulin fibrosis 2-3+/3.” She said she would bring that up to my doctor. That was the only thing that really worried me. The other conclusions were pretty much consistent with the prior BMB. The final conclusion was “persistent MPN with idiopathic myelofibrosis”.

It is a good thing that you are alert to what is actually in your report. Accepting a placating answer would not the the appropriate approach. It is quite reasonable that you would want a response sooner than 4 weeks.
I would not venture t interpret what the report means. Hopefully you have a good MPN Specialist who can walk you through the interpretation. And do so in a timely fashion.
Hey Cindy , , always hard to interpret what is or isn't significant without a full on consultation with your Hem which you readily acknowledge. Sadly with MF you might expect some changes over a 2 year period depending on what stage its at and hopefully you will get a true picture when you see the doc. Its a shame that a timescale of 4 weeks is deemed acceptable in your case to discuss the results given the nature of all you've got going on.
I agree. Apparently, my doctor is going out of town. But, I feel that if it was really serious, she would fit me in, but it is hard to wait. Hope you’re doing well.
Waiting upon waiting is just the hardest thing I've found out especially when test results are looming , , trouble is the reality is that you're a case number amongst a multitude. But always a bonus if your Doc doesn't actually make you feel as if you are when you finally get your moment. As you rightly say hopefully they will see you if things awry.
