First BMB tomorrow :) *update now done*

Hi Everyone, I'm getting my first BMB tomorrow. Think I'm up to speed on what to expect from reading previous posts here. I'm a bit nervous about the procedure itself but I suppose if I'm honest I'm more nervous about the results I'll get. I'm ET Jak2+ last platelet count 544. Also did anyone take co codomol before the procedure? Thanks :) **UPDATE** thanks again to everyone being so supportive on here. Honesty, you dont know how much it helps. I am also not sure what I would do without it!! Well I had my bmb yesterday and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. The doctor doing it was great. A bit of pain but pain you could deal with and some very strange sensations like someone was blowing bubbles inside my bone. Glad that bit is done. Now just have to wait for the results. My platelets are steady at 587 (up from 544 last time). I also got my Allelle Burden result which is currently 20%. I asked if this was high and was told it was in keeping with the lower end of ET Jak2+. I went home yesterday and rewarded myself with bed, buns and Netflix :).

I didn’t take anything before the procedure

You'll be fine and given your low platelet count the bmb results should not be anything major. The procedure itself is nothing to fear. Good luck.

Try not to worry too much, I found the anticipation was so much worse than the actual procedure. It was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

You can do it! ❤️

Mine was a breeze. Dr. numbed the skin and always stings a bit. I am a NP and I always told my patients that stubbing your toe usually hurts more than most out patient procedures. It’s the absolute truth. The information is vital to knowing how to best care for you. I will send you power thoughts!

I have just had one to date. The only thing that I felt was when they numbed the area it felt like a mosquito bite, pressure when taking the sample followed by a quick “electric” sensation when it was aspirated. That last sensation is because of the nerves in the bone/periosteum or so my doc told me. It was not bad at all and they explained everything to me beforehand and during while it was being done. Good luck to you!

The first one I had they gave me a sedative and that didnt go so well but the most recent one was easy and not v painful at all so I wouldn't worry.

good luck, dont sweat it. Ive had two, they are not too bad. A little bit of pressure and over quickly. The entire procedure/process took me five minutes. My last on was done during my regular appointment, in the same room.

Good luck to you, it won't be bad. I was given 50 mg of benadryl at the hospital about 20 minutes before the procedure, nothing else. It was a breeze.
