Hi everyone I am a 72 year old female and a new member. I was diagnosed one year ago with ET by my hematologist , but after consulting with an MPN specialist my diagnosis was changed to PV. Now it seems I don't fit exactly into that category so I am MPN-U (unclassified). I've been on Hydroxyurea 500 mg for 1 year in addition to 2 baby aspirins daily and I am doing well on that. Has anyone else fallen into an Unclassified diagnosis?

MPN-U
Hi, I'm 69 female and in a similar position to yourself, diagnosed 2 years ago with ET then diagnosed 1 year ago with PV. Apparently my bloods show characteristics of both diseases, high platelets and also a high red blood count. I have not heard of the term unclassified. There are others on this site in a similar position. Unfortunately, I'm hopeless with smart phone tech but think you may be able to access a previous thread about this topic by clicking on my profile photo.
Hi JP1952, thank you for responding so quickly! I am also not great with technology, but I am learning and getting better at it. After I was diagnosed with ET I immediately started on Hydroxyurea which brought my platelets down from 915 to 740 in one week. They continued to drop until they were in the normal range. My BMB showed that I met the criteria for PV as defined by the WHO. I was able to access previous threads like you suggested, so thank you for that!
hello Violetta115, welcome to our forum. I am glad to hear that you are doing well on the Hydroxyurea and aspirin. There are people who are MPN-U, there are previous posts/replies about it which you can find herehealthunlocked.com/search/p...
and I am sure you will get lots of responses from the lovely people on this forum who are also MPN-U. With best wishes, Maz
