Hello is anyone having holistic treatments which have been beneficial? I have had reflexology, gentle massage, acupuncture and cranio sacral therapy and although good at the time, have left me aching and exhausted for at least two days after.

I have tried several complementary health interventions. I see an Integrative/Functional medicine doc who is knowledgeable about the interaction between complementary health interventions and conventional Western medicines. If something ins biologically active enough to help you, then it can also hurt you, and interact with things. Caution is in order.
The things I have tried that help with MPN symptoms include:
For inflammation - Curcumin. Also take SPM Active and L-Glutathione. A Mediterranean or anti-inflammatory dies can also help. So does losing weight - healthy BMI.
For insomnia - Combination of Belsomra (western medicine), melatonin, and Relora.
For general health and mindfulness - I practice Qi Gong.
Hope you find some things that work for you. Please do be sure to consult with a Functional Medicine doc as you are planning to do. Care for MPNs needs to be integrated by providers who understand MPNs and the way different kinds of interventions affect those of us with them. Side note: general nutrition is all the more important for us. Mu Functional med doc found significant Vit B/Folate and Magnesium deficiencies for which I now take supplements.
All the best.
Thanks that is helpful. I will seek out a functional medicine doctor. I practice yoga and meditation which has been essential for my well being, but would like relaxing physical treatments too, but perhaps this isn't wise.
I have found after a massage or cranio sacral treatment etc I’m tired.
Main thing is how do you feel after initial aching two days ? Any better than before treatment?
Have you discussed with therapist?
No reason why you can’t have some relaxing treatment but it needs to suit you .
Hi Dream 23, I am considering acupuncture to help with insomnia. How did your acupuncture go?
Hi, I had accupuncture a few times a few weeks before the blood clot and PV was diagnosed as I had extreme severe headaches for 4 weeks previous to ending up in A&E and insisting on an MRI. I know so many people love accupuncture, I found it a very unpleasant feeling, although I have no idea how it might have impacted me. I haven't had it again, because of the pandemic, but I am put off by the needles and dull ache, as have had so many needles with injections. If I heard that it could relieve fatigue perhaps I would attempt to try it again.
I go for Reiki treatment. It has helped enormously with anxiety and my blood counts rose which was really good.
So do I!, and I take care of the microbiote, sleep well, exercise, etc and suplementation. Thank you for sharing
Hi, I investigated. I found a retired GP but was concentrating on holistics Hunter gave good advice . Then I found I was Vit D deficient .
I have cranial holistic treatment and I am sure it keeps my body in balance to heal itself. She always tells me that symptoms can get worse for next 3 days and then improve. Symptoms should not be bad just a mirror image of what was there before. Drink lots of water to flush out any toxins.
It is amazing what sort of things can be found out with tests regular doctors do not do. I had saliva tests from one therapist - finding out all sorts of things, which made pennies drop all over the place, and then hair tests from another which confirmed many things and added others. Yet another place did other sorts of tests for heavy metals etc. My vitamin D receptors seemed to have walked off the job completely, magnesium - boy that was low, ....
All those things really helped guide me in the dietary area.
What I have found has helped is some very old basic ways of eating: bone broth (very long cooking), if not raw then fermented foods (veges, drinks, etc). It makes all the goodies much more bioavailable, decreases inflamation. For sure it has helped me (not cured, but any help I can get is welcomed!)
Hi, thanks, what kind of doctors did the other tests? I'd be interested in getting some really thorough specialist help along side my medical team.
I have received an effective solution for my Osteoarthritis condition from acupuncture therapy. I have noticed that my pain had decreased and there was a gradual improvement for other symptoms after having this treatment method. My therapist: [ dynamicphysiotherapy.ca/ ] also taught me the do's and don't after taking this treatment option. After two sessions I have observed an overall sense of wellness, including psychological and physical health.
