Folic Acid Tablets

Has anyone had any problems taking Folic Acid Tablets - 5mg. I have only taken for 3 days - one a day but after one day I have had diarrhoea- nausea and tiredness.

I take 5 mg daily as I am on Methotrexate. I have no problem with them.

I went to see the pharmacist this morning to see if he had any answers. I have IBS as well and he thinks that it could be what is upsetting my stomach at the moment - as he said most people do not seem to get any side effects. Will persevere for a while . Take care Sodabread

I don’t take it but I have heard that some people react with tablet coatings and not the tablet.

Hi Sodabread,

Folic Acid is synthetic, doesn’t work well and can lead to complications. Most doctors don’t know their way around with vitamins, unless they are natural doctors. Important point! You should try Folate, the natural form. There is good info below from a trusted website. 🙂
