Researchers at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust are carrying out research to investigate how patients with MPN and also CML respond to vaccination against Covid-19.

They would like to recruit patients with a known MPN – who have either not yet received a second dose OR are less than 6 weeks from second dose.

To be eligible patients should ideally be registered at Guy’s Hospital, London and participation would involve attending Guy's Hospital for additional blood tests, at a number of time points after vaccination.

If you would be interested in participating in this study or would like further information please contact the below email address:

Hi Melanie66, unfortunately I am unable to take part as I don't live in or near to London, otherwise I would definitely take part. Maz

Great news for MPN Patients Maz. I live in Ireland so couldn’t take part but like everyone on here I eagerly await the results of this research! I’m now doubly vaccinated (Pfizer) but until I know I have had some kind of antibody response to it I will be cautious and behave ‘as if I wasn’t vaccinated’. Ettiel

Have sent an e-mail but not heard back yet ! Am straight into Guys on Northern line (even though I normally attend UCLH), so I would be interested to take part.

hi Runner999, you should have received an email to confirm receipt of your email, which says they aim to get back to you within 24 - 48 hrs. Maz

I got an "automated response" outline with no wording other than standard security stuff! Just assumed that it proves that I copied in the e-mail address correctly and they have received it. Not panicking !

Hi Runner 999, Did you ever get more than the automated response? That is all I have had so far.C

Yes - going to give blood next Friday - 5 weeks after my 2nd vaccine. You do not get your individual results though - in common with most research. But they do an extra FBC for your records whilst you are there, given our conditions!

I am so pleased that someone is actually doing some research!

It will be interesting to see how the human trials go. Who knew? how many have taken part in these trials already - unknowingly!!

In the UK I believe that you have to enrol - though there may be exceptions for hospital inpatients research simply pulling together age, sex, weight, other medical conditions .....

And this is not the same as a "trial" - it is research into the effects of vaccines which participants have already chosen to have. So it is just follow up research.

I have agreed to give blood for anonymous Covid antibody test via my Haematology Nurse Practitioner in The Midlands. It was too soon after the second vaccination for the test and haven’t heard anything further.
