Past few days having angina? I think...

For several days I have had pain that hits me in the chest, back and it expands up my neck and into my ears. When it started, it was evening after dinner. I thought it was too much Peking Duck. I reclined in bed and took some Tylenol and a baby aspirin. The pain reduced and finally stopped after about 10 minutes. It has happened every day for 6 days. The worst in the evening but always hits with light activity. Today, it got me this morning while doing laundry. I had palpitations, too. I don’t think this is reflux.I have been on 1000mg of Hydrea since January. I have never had cardiac issues or high cholesterol. I stopped Hydrea for 5 days but still had the chest pain.

I am supposed to get in a plane at 5:30 in the morning and I am a little nervous.

Gahhhhhhh!!!!!

This is not something I would just ignore. Pain is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. It could be any of a number of things. Here is a list of 15. I am sure there are more,hcamidwest.com/blog/entry/c...

You are correct in thinking angina would be one potential cause of the symptom. With MPNs we are at risk for a number of different issues. We cannot afford to just ignore things like this, even though it could be quite minor.

Please do follow up just to be safe.

I am canceling. I had another attack this evening and took a nitro of my husbands. As soon as it melted fully, I had relief. I surely do not want to have an acute MI on a plane! Thanks so much for your input! I will look at the list, too. I will let you know what shakes out.

Kindly

Kim

I had exactly the same symptoms happen to me on several occasions. At the time I was taking amitriptyline and baclofen after a spinal fracture. A gp I spoke to about it said she thought it was my heartburn but I was convinced it was angina caused by one of those medications so I stopped taking them and it never happened again. It was really scary at the time. I've since had more spinal fractures but now I stick to paracetamol and codeine for the pain and famotidine and peptac for the heartburn and reflux

Get it checked out. Years ago I had the same symptoms. It is a phenomenal pain lasted minutes and disappeared. Never knew what caused it. My dr said it sounded like esophageal spasms. The only way to diagnose it is to rule out anything heart related. I had all related testing- echocardiogram, blood and stress tests. Diagnosed as esophageal spasms. Never know what brings it on. Still comes and goes- not frequently. Nitro was given. Good luck.

Please get yourself to A&E. It may not be anything serious but it's not worth taking the chance.

Hi

I have had this for years. Drs don't believe it is Angina, because it passes too quickly. I have a dx of Jak2, ET and have had a mitral valve repair.

Cheers

Thanks, Maz. I have a referral to cardiologist. Had basic labs, yesterday and nothing unexpected.
