Due for my prolia...

Hi everyone, am due for my prolia injection today but want to talk to my Dr. I have read MPN May increase risk of fractures but I hate this prolia as if you stop there is an increased risk of fracture! Being on clopidergrel, HU, Apixaban already feels like enough... am really tempted to just up the exercise and cont8nue high calcuim diet. I have had 3 courses so far, last was overdue by 4 mths due to COVID which isn’t ideal either... any thoughts out there?

Hi Cabert, , I think you are right to discuss this with your Doc or Rheumatologist if you are having doubts. I have recently had my first injection of Prolia/Denosumab and because my Osteoporosis in my back is quite bad it's hard to tell if its worse now though I am in alot of discomfort. I am still on a small dose of immuno-suppressant and a few other drugs but no one has flagged anything up. The only thing I was told is to have any dental work done and look after teeth as it can affect your jaw bone for some reason. I was happy that I no longer need to take the Alendronic Acid every week. Obviously still taking calcium / vit D. And I thought it better to try and decrease my risk of fracture longer term.

Please let us know how you get on.

Regards - Chris

Thanks for your post. I did a lot of reading overnight and had a lengthy talk to my pharmacist today in reference to other meds and interactions. He urged me to have it owing to my early mylofibrosis. I shall send you a couple of articles! In the end I had it today, this is my 4th. It’s not a drug that is easy to quit due to rebound fracture risk. I also was booked in today for my Covid Vaccine so it’s all happening. Good luck with your aches and pains, I get them too.

Thank you I will take a look at this. I wasn't over keen on getting the jabs but my last scan showed some Osteonecrosis and coupled with several spinal compressions I thought what have I to lose by giving it a shot. Hope you feel ok after your double whammy.
