Does anyone have an opinion from a medical practitioner about whether the shielding programme might continue beyond the end of March? I have the letter that covers me till the end of March. Only asking because my workplace want me to book holiday and I’m wondering whether to disregard April. They’re not updating guidance officially till mid March. Opinions only please as no one really knows yet just wondered if anyone had picked up a vibe from their doctor.

Do we think shielding might continue BEYOND March?
Hi there,The shielding guidance is just that - guidance. It's really up to you whether or not you feel you need to follow it based on your own circumstances. In my own case, I have had my vaccination and the infection rate is continuing to fall significantly in my area, so I am starting to gradually ease out of lockdown. But it has to be a personal decision based on your own circumstances.
Stay safe
John
Hi, I had another government letter yesterday, saying, ( advice ) shield till the end of March.
Hi Bakerloo as Bridie says the current govt letter being sent out to all in the CEV group is shield extended again until end of March - this letter would be useful for your employers as it gives confirmation of your status and eligibility for SSP, ESA or furlough whatever is applicable so gives them what they need to allow for you not working at the moment - I just pass my letter on whenever I receive one to my employers and they deal accordingly. If you are one of the souls not on the CEV list get some info from the site on how to be placed on it, as it is essential for anyone working and as this situation is not over just yet, for work especially you need a bit of help. Lots of good info also re employment on Blood Cancer UK website so take a look at that too. All the best
Ah yes sorry see what you mean now - again very good bits on Blood Cancer UK website about when can I stop to shield, it's very good detailed advice for once patients had both vaccine doses and beyond - it's quite extensive item and I have again passed to my employers as to future months - this is more tailored for our own situation rather than of course the govt shield for all that stops and starts over the last year whereas the blood cancer patient situation doesn't really change albeit each of our cases are different and it is all "advice" hence choice, but I know my employers found the Blood Cancer UK info helpful to outline my actual situation
I was advised by my Consultant not to think of stopping shielding until after my second jab.
