I am a MF patient, (52 working full time), and for a while have been interested in how nutrition can help me. I can be very good about a varied diet, and then get bored of it, or the perceived effort of planning and doing etc....
However lockdown has made eating well harder, shopping online, always cooking which can be dull on repeat, so I was finding that I was reaching for lots of 'brown' food and not feeling very good.
I am reading and researching, but my initial approach on positive eating to be less inflammatory is feeling good and I thought I'd share.
1. Try to have a variety of ingredients each week to top 50 per week. This is easier than it sounds when you add herbs, spices, nuts etc..
2. When I want to snack (let's face it we all do..) I try to have a plan.. so yesterday a quick smoothie with fruit in the fridge , I knew what I was going to have so I didn't need to think about it.
3. No laziness when it comes to prepping veg for dinner, so I try to do this before the fatigue kicks in.
4. Have added 1 cup of green tea per day.
5. Allow a few cheats, I am not aiming for perfection, just better than ...
Overall , just under a week in, this feels better. I feel a bit less sluggish and more awake..I also don't feel like I am missing anything.
If people are interested, I'll update every few weeks with any other ideas, or info that I find out.

Good on you,I try to be careful re eating,stick to veg ,salad ,fish,chicken.Snacking difficult ...I am allergic to nuts, too much fruit makes upset tum...
I make an odd cake but it must be plain.Yes update Katherine,I need help as find a tiny meal often is best for me......but no good for hubby!!!!

HiI think you are on to something! Keep up the good work and, yes please keep us updated. I am obsessed with eating my greens but I think I should try way more variety. P.s. eating pizza with friends tonight and that is just fine too.
Thanks for this. Lots of good ideas about diet. I have MF too and find that the more I stick to a good diet the better I feel. It’s easy though to get bored so the idea of introducing a number of new ingredients every week is a good one. Take care.
Thank you for your ideas on following an anti inflammatory diet. I too have MF and am always interested in anything that you can do to help yourself. I try to eat reasonably healthily but not too keen on vegetables. Any ideas on 'beneficial foods or meals' would be gratefully received.

FYI I take a turmeric supplement (it means we don't have to eat so many curries!) and something called N-AC (again there's an article on the pvreporter website about this) as both are said to be good anti-inflammatories but check with your medical team before taking any supplements.
Thanks for that. I have myelofibrosis, too. I just was on a webinar with 2 mpn specialists. One of them did a study on patients with MF and found most of them took supplements but they found that the only one that helped was Omega 3. It was very interesting.
