Recently found out that the hospital where I see an MPN specialist (Cleveland Clinic) currently has a clinical trial for ET patients using an oral drug called LSD1/ IMG-7289/Bomedemstat. Does anyone have any knowledge of this trial or this drug?

I have seen a lady said she is in this trial on a FB group. Her feedback on this drug is very positive. If I remember it correctly, this drug is for AML and MF also.

I have previously seen it in connection with MF treatment."Bomedemstat has a distinct mechanism of action from ruxolitinib and fedratinib, the two U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)−approved therapies for myelofibrosis. LSD1 is an epigenetic enzyme critical for self-renewal of malignant myeloid cells and differentiation of myeloid progenitors, Dr. Pettit explained. When it is bound to GFI1b, LSD1 permits progenitors to mature to megakaryocytes, enabling their normal function."

It has received Fast Track designation from the FDA for the treatment of ET.

"The FDA grants Fast Track designation to facilitate development and expedite the review of therapies with the potential to treat a serious condition where there is an unmet medical need. A therapeutic that receives Fast Track designation can benefit from early and frequent communication with the agency, in addition to a rolling submission of the marketing application, with the objective of getting important new therapies to patients more quickly."

Bomedemstat looks like a potentially significant step forward in treatment options for MPNs, including ET/PV. The only way these new treatments can advance is if people are willing to volunteer for the clinical trials. If you are interested, please do look into participation, I have volunteered to participate in the PTG-300 for PV. I hope will will be able to participate.

Please let us know what you find out.

I emailed the Doc I see there and he said we would discuss it when I am able to go back there for appointment. I don't know now when that will be with the pandemic going on and the distance I have to travel to get there. Will let you know when I am able.

I am doing tele-video sessions with many docs. Travel is not an issue. It actually works well
