Relaxation massage in ET

Hi all, I’m curious if anyone with mpn has been advised against massage therapy due to increased risk of clot/bleed? (I haven’t had any clots). I did a massage course over 20 years ago & we weren’t allowed to massage anyone who’s had a blood clot within last 12 months, so just wanting to know if it’s safe for us or not

I have gotten all types of massage (deep, light, Rolfing) with no problems. Been on Hydrea over 18 yrs. platelets well controlled.

Hi Lions , , , I'm sure I've read a bit about massage (all in the best possible taste) on here so if you search 'massage' you might find advice. From memory I think it was a thumbs up but best to be sure . Regards - Chris

Hi, I have had massages done with oils, crystals all sorts since I was diagnosed with ET which has been over seven years now, it kept my stress levels well and truly down, also my blood counts have been normal for all these years, until last year when the pandemic hit us and my daughter was diagnosed with a rare Sarcoma cancer, my stress levels went up so did my bloods counts, they are putting it down to the stress of it all but for me I feel it’s because I have been unable to get any massages done which is one on the best ways to relax and unwind. The lady that does them for me is trained in giving them to cancer patients which was an added bonus.

I’ve had massages but once when it was intense it set off itching so perhaps bring Benadryl or Atarax. But each of us is different.
