As the UK will have the Astrazeneca Vaccine now before it arrives in our lovely shores... You guys will become our test-case subjects...
So please do accept my thanks for that upfront guys...
The reason Australia chose this vaccine was probably due to the fact that it is/was the cheapest to make, and to distribute, because it doesn't require any more than normal refrigeration...
In any event, I thought that some of you might like to know a tad more about what it is and how it's made etc...
Please everyone make sure that you consult your MPN Specialist, well in advance before taking any Vaccine, because most of us may have compromised immune systems, making us far more vulnerable to infections of unknown origin etc...
Very interesting. The more information the better, especially as i'm a bit worried about the speed of both Covid jabs approval. I'm certainly no anti-vaxxer but considering the normal average time for developping vaccines on the whole, the quick development of the 2 vaccinces already with approval would in my view bring some trepidation. I hope to be better informed when offered it. Thank you steve. Best wishes to you also for 2021. Tina.🤗
Yes I will steve, I 'm due to speak to my consultant again in mid jan, I don't like talking on the phone and prefer face to face but I think this will be an extended conversation this time around! HNY. Tina.🤗
Thanks socrates_8 . This is excellent information. The Oxford-AstraZeneca Vaccine is the one I'm hoping to receive. I'm 100% certain that I wouldn't be able to have the Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine as I'm allergic to Penicillin and Clopidogrel - my elderly uncle went to have his Pfizer BioNTech vaccine last week, and he was told he couldn't have it due to the same allergies. So, fingers crossed that the Oxford one will be OK for me.
Hopefully, it will be okay but still please check w/ your MPN Specialist, or at least let's all ask Maz to please ask Prof. Harrison for her thoughts on the subject of the AstraZeneca Vaccine as opposed to the Pfizer & Moderna alternates etc...
Morning from Uk, thanks for this detailed explanation, yes have been told to notify consultant, not sure how I feel about having either of the vaccines, will see, hope you are all well and Happy New Year!!
This is such good information, my Haematologist told me this month that he feels the Astrazeneca vacation would be better for me, and has suggested that if offered this is the one to take, but don’t think you can get a choice. But personally I will take anything, need to try and get back to some sort of norm, but really good information.
Yes, I believe that we ALL should at least know something about the different Vaccines on offer, and how they are made, and in turn how they may or may not perform, (ideally of course...)
Whether or not they are suitable for us is a question I feel might be best fielded by some of those better qualified to do so...
Naturally, everyone wants to return to some type of semblance of normalcy, however, there is a great deal of concern over CV-19, and many questions remain unanswered...
Nevertheless, the sooner we move forward towards whatever solutions our world presents us with, the sooner things might change... We are living in very uniquely different times to when all of this commenced, in my view...
Unity and a dash of common-sense while all pulling together, in one direction, might be what is needed... Obviously, our world society cannot endure like this...
Best wishes, and never stop asking questions and seeking answers...
