Can you have unexplained temperature with E T?

Has anyone experience high temperature for no reason with E T? I was diagnosed with E T last March but no treatment because of Covid. Few days ago I had a high temp, and felt icy cold. After a few hours of this my husband called our surgery, doc came and he called for an ambulance. They kept me in and did all sorts of tests, put me on IV antibiotics. Haematologist didn’t think it had anything to do with E T. I’ve had hot flashes for months sometimes followed by cold spells, but that seemed to be ignored by haematologist. After 24 hours temp dropped and after few more tests sent home. It was all very unsettling. Told to have more blood tests in a couple of weeks. Another strange thing was that my platelet levels was 420 just before I was discharged and had been over 700 for months... Please let me know if if anyone of you have had similar experience. Thank you reading and stay safe. PS the only good thing out of this is I tested negative for Covid..every cloud...!

I’ve had fever come on suddenly a couple of times over the years, but then the next day I’m fine. It hasn’t happened, though, for a long time.

Thank you for your reply. Did your haematologist think it was due to E T?

At the time, I didn’t make the connection. But after years of research, there can be no other explanation.

High fevers are mostly the body’s response to viruses attacking. Unexplained fevers are not listed among ET things. It is excellent your platelet count dropped. But I’m sure you and your doctors will keep a check on that. Night sweats are common with PV; I’m not sure with ET. Keep a record of your symptoms, what, when, and for how long. Have it with you no matter which doctor you’re seeing. It’s easy for you to forget some, and hard for them to diagnose if they don’t have a full picture. Stay assertive in getting the treatment you need. Best wishes!
