Stye issues

Good morning all ! I keep getting styles in my eyes. Anyone else having this problem? I’ve been on antibiotics quite frequently for this. Any tips would be helpful😉 not sure if hydrox does this

I had a spell of getting them. Some people are more prone and they are caused by bacteria in the eye ducts or hair follicles. Try to avoid rubbing touching your eyes Stress is supposedly a factor but my eye doctor ruled that theory out. I stopped getting them by regularly gentle cleaning my eye lids with Q tips or pads with baby or mild shampoo.

I don't get styes, but often get blepharitis - which is similar. Both conditions are very uncomfortable and caused by oil on the eyelids. I second the advice Dovme has given. I use heavily diluted baby shampoo on my eyelids daily, avoid touching/rubbing my eyes and only very rarely use eye make-up.

I'm on Hydroxy, but the eyelid problems and blepharitis started way before I started taking it. In fact it started a long time before I was diagnosed with PV.

In addition to what was already suggested, there is a product called OCuSOFT Lid Scrub which can help keep the eyelids clean. They are towelettes that are designed specifically designed for this purpose. My eye-doc recommended them as I have blepharitis and dry eye. Keeping the eyelids clean is really important for prevention.

I do think that the generic predisposition to inflammation we experience with MPNs may play a role as well. Systemic inflammation is not our friend!
