Blood clotting a significant cause of death in patients with COVID-19 -- ScienceDaily

A new study has found that Irish patients admitted to hospital with severe COVID-19 infection are experiencing abnormal blood clotting that contributes to death in some patients.

Do we know if us ET/PV and other myeloproliferative are at risk , indeed have any of us died.

My understanding from the Webinar is that it is a different type of clotting and not a major concern at the moment unless you have had a clot in the past.

As mark382 says check out the last Webinar. Doesn’t appear to be a particular issue for MPN patients. The clotting problems seem to be a consequence of the inflammation caused by COVID. The whole point about MPN treatment is to mitigate any potential problems caused by our dodgy blood cells!

The only caution Prof Harrison issued was for anyone who has suffered a major clot to a major organ in which case the clot may have compromised that organ’s ability to function effectively and that in turn might compromise the patient’s ability to fight the COVID infection.
