I am confused as I slip between vulnerable and at high risk. Just rang my GP and I was told all the high risk letters have gone out but they don’t do them?!?! Might be some more letters going out in a week???
I am 66 with ET taking 12 hydroxy capsules a week and an aspirin, I am type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure and cholesterol but all controlled by more pills.
I am self isolating but have been out a couple of times for a 15 minute walk round the block. Only saw a couple of people each time and we avoided each other keeping yards between us. But should I have gone for the walks?
I don’t want to be high risk but I just want to know if I am or not!!!!!!!!

Hi Janet, sorry to hear you are so worried about these letters. I have too many red blood cells, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, all controlled by medication.
I don’t think it’s worth worrying about whether you do or don’t receive a letter, the important thing is your self isolating, you are being careful when you go out for your walk which you are allowed to do. Personally I think the daily exercise is essential for our mental ill health and my personal opinion is that I wouldn’t worry about the letter but continue to be safe like you’re doing. Keep posting too, so you keep in touch. E hugs and best wishes sent Aime xx😻😻
Hi Aime, think you have encompassed above in your post what most of us are feeling. It is the difficulty obtaining shopping which now concerns me most. 3 week wait for deliveries is no use at all, know the large supermarkets are doing their utmost though. Others in our village have been very very helpful offering to do shopping but what we need is far too much for others to take on and they have their shop to do so wouldn't probably be able to collect items for us too. For this reason I did register with the govt. site for vulnerable people and this should, should give us a bit of priority for deliveries. We don't want the free food bit! My husband has health issues too and is older so he too shouldn't shop but we are now torn so he does the shop and I go with him for the ride (a change of scenery) but stay in the car. Mostly you are doing all we can and that exercise is essential I think, it is nice to at least see others and speak but of course to keep the distance too. Take care all xx
You seem to be living the identical life to mine! Without putting on our neighbours, it's the deliveries we need - not freebies, - just food! Take care.
Hi Janet, the general advice is that you can take one form of exercise a day, but to be careful in keeping the required distance from other people, exercise and fresh air are important for everyone, which is why the government have said we can have one form of exercise per day, but to follow the guidance.
I am afraid you are most likely in the high risk group as me. Apart from having chemo medication, any underlayer chronic illness like high blood pressure, asthma and diabetes as well as over 65 considered as high risk. But please don't panic, as long as we aware of that and self isolation (we all should anyway during this time) and take extra precautions when necessary to go for essential shopping. Don't let nerves take over. Stay safe.
As long as you take the necessary precautions, I think keeping active is really important. I try to take a walk 3 or 4 times a week. I think it’s not only good physically, but mentally, as well. We do safe-distancing and I feel my stamina has improved. We remove our shoes at the door, just in case.
