Kidney Cysts?

I’m so pleased I went to Guys for referral. Not only did they spot low iron, which despite having three monthly bloods my local Haematology dept failed to spot, also Guys asked for an ultra sound on my Abdomen. The results came back today indicating that I had a cyst on my Kidney, and that it was not a ‘simple’ cyst.So it means I’ll have to have it further investigated probably by a CT scan. Luckily one of my best friends is a Consultant Urologist who informs me that probably 50% of the population have a cyst on their kidney but they are usually very ‘innocent’. Anyone here had a similar finding? Hope everyone is keeping OK it’s very difficult sometimes with the World the way it is, also local crime can be worrying. I’ll just send you some good vibes if it’s getting you down as long as you bat some of them back. Paul 74 ET JAK 2

Yes to having a kidney cyst. Yes to it being a benign entity. Glad tp hear about the better experience at Guys. Going to a good MPN clinic can make a huge difference in your MPN care.

Wishing you all the best.

Hi Paul - I too have a kidney cyst that was detected on abdominal ultrasound. I’ve been told that mine is benign, so requires no treatment or further investigation and that many people have them. Good luck with yours.

It’s great that we’re so closely monitored but does mean they tend to pick up everything that isn’t quite right with us!

All the best.

Yes Paul, to the kidney cyst scenario….beautifully benign and just to keep the little sucker company, I also have one on my liver! Dunno what’s going on but I’ve been assured that these are nothing to worry about. Discovered via an ultrasound whilst checking for something else.

Husband diagnosed with PV Jak2 & is on Hydroxycarbamide, & remains really well & fit 🤞.As part of the diagnosis, was given abdominal ultrasound where kidney cyst was seen also had CT scan. Consultant said it was normal. Had repeated scan after 6mths,no change, therefore another scan in Nov (6mths again) just to check. The other good thing about these abdominal scans other organs are looked as well. Without having been diagnosed he would never have known

I've had kidney cysts for quite a few years. Fortunately, I've been told that mine are simple. Good luck with yours!

Hi Paul I had benign kidney cysts picked up on an ultra sound and followed up by an MRI, just to be sure, several years ago after I complained of a dull ache. I was told they were nothing to worry about but still get the discomfort from time to time. Just as well to get it checked out thoroughly and put your mind at rest. Always helps to know someone in the medical profession. Good luck. Linda 74 ET & Jak2

I have a kidney cyst found through an abdominal ultrasound.

It's benign and hasn't caused me any issues so far.
