Hi everyone, I haven’t really thought much about the Coronavirus and MPN ET. I am only on blood thinners and aspirin as of yet as I only found out I had it a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know if it effects people with MPN ET? I didn’t think it would but after hearing about things I just wanted to see some other people’s views with MPN.

I think it depends on whether your immune system is compromised. Some of the chemotherapies can do this, but not the blood thinning agents. There is some good information already posted on this forum to consult. I would be cautious about lumping all MPNs with all other cancers in affecting risks. I expect risk will have more to do with age, general health, lifeatyle choices, and plain old xommon sense. We all need to be taking due precautions regardless of MPN status. Do be sure to take sensible precautions, but suggest avoiding excessive worry.
I would endorse what hunter5582 has said. If you are fit and well you should be able to get through an infection without a problem.
There are statistics from China that indicate that people with cancer have an increased risk but it seems like this is because people with cancer tend to be older and it is older people who are at increased risk.
Sensible precautions and staying positive are the way forward.
