I just wondered if anyone else has read the findings of the cancer study which was on here a couple if days ago. As someone with ET, I am quite concerned that it states that anyone over 60 and having had a previous thrombotic event has as much as a 25 per cent chance of having a cerebral, cardiac or peripheral arterial thrombosis. I'm 60 this year and has a pulmonary embolism in 2013.
Grateful for any thoughts on this.
Regards
Ian

I can't find the cancer study you are referring to. Do you have some more details?
I may be proven wrong but I suspect the figures are based on people who have other types of cancer, not MPNs, and where the risks of blood clots is not being actively managed.
The statement about a 25% chance of a thrombotic event is somewhat alarming. However I can't immediately find where this percentage has come, the size and quality of the research, and how relevant it is to anyone of a particular age
Critically there is nothing to explain whether the 25% chance is over a year, five years or the rest of your life.
