I am thinking about taking a stool test in order to optimize my diet and reduce inflammation. I am curious if anyone else has tried this. I have got ET.

Stool test, microbiome and MPN

Hi Bohus
I’m interested in this too, it would maximise any treatment & can only be a good thing to improve gut health & microbiome
I wonder how you go about it?
Interesting- never heard of this procedure. If you go ahead please do post your results
Very interesting. How would you do this? How have you been managing your diet so far? Please let us know how you go on.
It is really interesting. So far my diet is for the most part anti-inflammatory and 5 days a week I practice intermittent fasting. Its only been a couple of months since my ET-diagnosis but since I have been suffering from a number of weird health issues the last couple of years I started to think about if some of them could be diet-related about a year back. I have contacted a functional-medicin practitioner to discuss my diet and she wants me to test my micro-biome. After my ET-diagnosis I have looked at some research pointing towards that our microbiome is different than in healthy individuals. So I have decided to go along with the test, I figure that life is to short to only rely on conventional medicin. The only drawback is the price, it costs 530 euro. But hey, its only money right?
Disruption of the microbiome can have many ill effects. If you are also JAK2 positive, then inflammation related issues are common as there is a link to increased inflammatory cytokine load. From a complimentary medicine approach, I have had great success with a Turmeric-Curcumin blend that contains CurcuWin , a more bioavailable form of Curcumin. It has done me more good than any NSAID I ever took. The Integrative Medicine doc I started seeing suggested an additional anti-inflammatory supplement called SPM Active. It is a fish-oil derivative that concentrated the anti-inflammatory agents. Too soon to say whether it will make any difference.
Please let us know what you find out about your microbiome. maintaining a healthy balance in your gut is a very important health issue, even more so when managing a condition like ET.
All the best.
Hey Bohus...
Interesting Trial you are about to embark upon...
I have also done a little research into this myself, and there does appear; 'On the face of things...'
For this to be a rather interesting study!
I for one will be most curious as to what you learn from the Trial...
Hopefully, it will not be like the smiling 'placebo' face of a new customer's buying satisfaction, but rather something well-based upon really sound logic...
Personally, I do believe the latter is more likely...
Below is a link to a Post I made sometime back on MATES Forum 'Down-Under'...

You might find the film rather interesting too...
Please do keep us all Posted on your findings, as things progress etc...
Best wishes all for a Happy & Safe Christmas & an excellent New Year...
