Good looking sunsmart activewear...any ideas?

Hi all. It is spring here in Australia and I realise I am coming up to my first summer whilst taking hydrea ( 2 tabs a day) I have ET. I know I should be sunsmart. I play tennis a couple of times a week, walk the dog and ride to work and home every day and am generally outdoorsy. Pretty sure keeping active is doing me good but I can't find anything cool, good looking and a long sleeved etc to wear playing tennis through summer. Has anyone found appropriate activewear? Pretty sure there is a great business opportunity out there for some one. Would love your ideas. Thanks

Yes! You’re in the right place. When I’ve ordered stuff in the past it’s come over from Oz! Check out Solbari. There are also a number of other companies - just Google. Some of the big outdoors / sports makes also do sun protection ranges. The decent stuff isn’t cheap but inevitably there are sales and special offers. Happy shopping.

Hi. Coolibar & Patagonia brands are spf 50 but not sure if they’re available in Australia. But give serious thought to being safe in the sun more than stylish. Some on here have had pretty serious skin cancers. Maybe also arrange your games to avoid the worse sun times. But it’s great you’re so active. Keep up the good work! Katie

I know exactly what you meant. I live in Australia too and it's also the first summer I am on HU. I walk about 5km each morning and love the sun, but with Hu I prepare to wear long sleeves cotton t shirt or polo shirt for my exercise walk, I'll wear nicely protected(including neck) cotton sun hats sent by family from overseas. About playing tennis, I am not sure what sort of outfits available out there, but I suppose you can wear smart looking set of white long sport pants with matching long sleeves top, good pure cotton one would be nice and cool. Our summer is HOT. But I love wearing shorts so I guess I have to use good protection sunscreen.

Lots of more fashionable item than this one, but it is something that really helps me. I spend a good bit of time outdoors and if I am not careful, excess sun will give me a major eczema flair on the back of the neck. With JAK2+PV I am prone to this sort of thing. Add chemo to that and it gets even more dicey. This item attaches to whatever hat you may be wearing to protect your neck - without making you hot. amazon.com/dp/B00ZO1SEBC/re...

Lots of color choices and similar items. Hope you continue to enjoy outdoor activities.

Hi again, if you find that by simply wearing cotton long sleeves or slacks you still get sun, it’s because the spf in regular clothing is not very high. You might need to buy clothing with spf 50 & ideally the fabrics that keep you cool. Katie
