I have a lump on my head

So I noticed this a few months ago and I'm 99.99% sure it's not a cysts or ingrown hair. It's a bump right above my right ear. It totally feels like solid bone! I have a really tiny one above my left ear. It doesn't hurt to touch or press on it. It doesn't move go in. I'm a 40 old male, who's a plumber. I saw something about vinyl chloride ,and arsenic could cause something like this. Polyvinyl chloride is piping we use to plumb drain lines in homes, and I smoke cigarettes so that could be the arsenic. So does anybody know what this is? It doesn't seen to be getting bigger, but my barber notice it while cutting my hair (2 months) between hair cuts. Any help would be great thanks.

I don’t think this is an MPN issue. Which MPN do you have?

Totally off the wall here, but do you wear spectacles? I have a lump above my ears but also a dent where the arm of the glasses sit so I have never worried about it.

As Osidge says you need to consult your GP.

No glasses, like said I a small one above my left ear and a big one above the right one

What is mpn?

MPN’s are Myeloproliferative neoplasms, essential thrombocythemia, Polycythemia Vera and Myleofibrosis. These are all blood cancers.

I have had something similar in various location which rurned out to be lipomas. Unrelated to MPNs. For sure to get it checked out to be sure it is benign.

Thank you for the link to dermatitis stuff again Hunter. I notice you mention here that you have ( had) lipomas. I also have them and have lumps on my skull now which I suspect to be lipomas. You mention they are unrelated to our mpn’s but I wonder ....

I had lipomas in various places, including under the skin on my skull. Never found any link to this and MPNs - JAK2 mutation - but who knows? I also have neurofibromatosis type 1 (another genetic disorder) so it is hard to tell what is related top what vs what is completely unrelated.
