Platelet count 600
Hi Belfastgirl62, has your doctor discussed a referral to a haematologist with regards to your platelet count? Were you referred to anyone or put on any medication following your TIAs? It would be best if you asked your doctor about the raised platelets and what he/she intends to do about this with regards to a referral etc, tell him/her that you are concerned about your raised platelet counts with your history of TIAs. Best wishes, Maz
Thank you I will do they said cancer been ruled out and there waiting on chest x-ray coming back
With your platelet count and previous TIAs, you should be referred to a haematologist with experience of MPN’s. This might be helpful for MPN’s and Essential Thrombocythaemia particularly. mpnvoice.org.uk/about-mpns/...
Platelets at 600 is thrombocytosis. Elevated platelets put you t risk for TIAs and other thrombosis related problems. You should be getting referral to a hematologist. It is best to find one who has expertise in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms. Here is one resource mpnforum.com/list-hem/ . You definitely want to find out whether your thrombocytosis is Essential Thrombocythemia or secondary to another disorder. The doc will look at all your blood cell numbers (CBC). Will want to pay attention to all red and white blood cells in addition to platelets. The MPNs are rare disorders. Even with hematologists, many do not have the expertise you need. Be sure to find a doc who can address your needs. All the best on this journey.
how you doing now?
