I am going in this morning for another hydration shower nfusion, which seems to help for energy, even though I drink Tons of water. I am also taking one teaspoon of liquid iron which seems to help with my energy level. With me taking 500 mgs of Hydrea, 7 days a week, I am going to ask about cutting down to 3 times a week due to inflammation of joints in hand..taking and using CBT oil has a temporary fix during the day, but in the morning, finger joints are so swollen...

Any recommendations on keeping the swelling at a minimum?

Hi. When I was started on hydrea ( I have PMF) I was given allopurinol to take 100mg once a day to prevent the gout that can occur with it. Painful swelling in toe and finger joints. If you haven’t been offered allopurinol, might be worth asking if your swollen joints could be gout as a complication of the hydrea. Something to do with the dead blood cells aggravating the joints.

Thank you...will ask about that. So far my hematologist is not convinced the swelling is directly contributed to Hydrea. She has given me some steroids, which I really do not want to start so I am looking for better alternatives..

What is a “hydration shower infusion”? BTW, with me myelofibrosis, I

have low sodium so I don’t drink regular water- it lowers my sodium and causes fatigue. I drink salty chicken broth.
