Dry Mouth

Hi Friends.

Just a follow up regarding waking up in the night with a dry mouth, I’ve found if you apply lip balm or something similar to your lips before you go to bed it seems to stop the dry mouth, I’m not sure how it works but it works for me 🤪

I do the same . It does help but still need the water nearby, save having the walk to the kitchen in the night. 😊

I keep a glass of water handy, and when I go for my usual stroll in the wee small hours of the night, I have a drink. Since starting Hydroxyurea last January I find I really need it, and do start to feel dehydrated if I don't top up one or two times in the night. :-)

I drink about a litre of water through the night. That then results in a few trips to the WC. Oh for a good nights sleep lol x

Me, too. So, it is the Hydrea causing the dry mouth not ET? So dry sometimes hard to open mouth:/

I've often noticed my mouth is weirdly dry despite drinking but didn't know why

I am about to start Hydrea. Very scared and concerned. Anyway, what dosage are you on? Do you take it every day.

Hi ,Sklines , Try not to be scared I take 2 x 500mg every day and apart from dry mouth and being thirsty I don’t have any side effects, but you need to drink plenty of water , I drink 3 litres a day, 👍

My

Platelets are currently 630. I am going to start with one 500 capsule every other day.

I’m taking one 500 cap of hydroxyurea Monday to Friday and hoping that will hold platelets at least near normal. I haven’t noticed any adverse side effects. I drink about 2 litres of water a day, often more, and do have water by the bed for night sips. Like you I was very very nervous before starting the meds but as the time has gone on (couple of months now), I am a lot more relaxed about it. You will be so too I am sure.

Sorry to put spanner in works but I have PV plus an extremely dry mouth, even though I’m well hydrated and I’m not on any meds, just controlled by venesection. Maybe it’s another symptom of our MPNs.

Kindest regards Aime xx😸😺
