Can a 650 platelet count cause lower leg to have big blood spots on lower leg. Didn't bump into anything. I am 71.

Hi keiki4me,i also have several of these "blood spots"but concentrated around my stomach & side area,i have had them quite sometime now & have never bothered me. My platelet count has been defenitely been more up than down & never been consistent in what they term normal range, 150-450. But if your worried speak to your haematologist about it at your next visit. Atb tina.🤗

Hi Keiki4me, I am 77! with ET, also; have blood spots over chest and back and top of legs, which seem to be more apparent sometimes....told they are to do with platelets and tiny bleeding inside....but when shown haematologist, she wasn't worried at all. But I do take Clopidogrel and notice need to take less often, every now and then, as blood spots more pronounced, then they settle down again. I wonder if they are a sign to say our blood is thin enough! But always wise to check with your own haematologist. Best regards, Tinkerbell

Hi Keiki4me, it would be best to get this checked by your GP, it is sometimes too easy to blame everything on our MPNs when it might not be. Best wishes, Maz
