Iam jak2 and exon12 neg.Wondering if my high RBC hct count is due to some secondary reason.Went for sleep study 2 days back.Reports are still to come. The guy who put all the equipments said there was slight snoring and oxygen saturation in blood went to 87% at night.(ideal range is 95-100%).I wanted to ask if any of you know whether high uric acid is a possibility in case of secondary polycythemia as my fingers are swollen a bit and it's been like a month they are this way.My spleen is normal and chest x ray and echo is also normal.I really don't know how many more test has to be done to know what iam dealing with exactly.

Low oxygen level in blood
I’m sure the sleep study will come up with a solution. Sit tight and await your results.
How I hate this waiting game.
It is getting very frustrating now.Cant even focus on my job.
So hard to wait on results. Please let us know as soon as you have the sleep study reading. How is your oxygen level in the daytime?
It's normal.It was 99%.chest x-ray is also normal.dr is not suspecting cold.So relieved!!
That is very good. If a person has secondary Polycythemia due to Hypoxia, usually the daytime O2 levels are below 93% and remain constant as well as having sleep apnea with low O2 levels at nighttime. Your Dr. is most probably following a protocol to diagnosis and you will have an answer soon. Thinking of you and sending you good vibes.
I'm jak2+ as well, here is what I have gleaned from own blood tests. With PV or HGB levels are kept low and our MCH levels are also low; what I understand is that HGB and MCH carry oxygen to our cells are bring back CO2. When these levels are low it is hard to get the right Oxygen saturation in your blood. I spent a weekend in the mountains about 10,000 feet in altitude and getting around was harder than it used it to be but I still made all the hikes with my friends, a little more slowly but I did make it! That Monday I went in for a phlebotomy and my O2 was at 100%, I've never seen that! After the phlebotomy, my O2 saturation was at 96%, so in my mind, there is a good correlation and causation between your HGB levels O2 saturation. Mine is not as low as yours so I hope the sleep study can help you out. I know that if I walk the dog a mile or two every other day that helps my brain fog which I associate with a low O2 level.
Remember, your not alone!
Thing is my hb and hct is still high as they have not started venesection yet.hb 16.6 and hct 49.i donated blood 3 months back tho and at that time hb was 18.3 and hct 49.so don't know if o2 saturation is low due to low hb levels. But will talk to my hemo after sleep study report and discuss this thing you pointed out.😊
I tried to copy and paste the 2016 updated World Health Org algorithm chart for diagnosing MPNs so I could share here. I didn't work. So, maybe this link will. Give it a minute or two to load. asheducationbook.hematology...
Did you say you donated blood? I understood that we are not allowed to give blood having this disease?
I meant to say I had venesection once
