Has anyone taken out life insurance linked to a mortgage, after they were diagnosed? I’ve just bought a house with my partner and we need the insurance for the smallish mortgage we’ve taken out.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations?
Many thanks

Perhaps challenge the need for life insurance if necessary?
Hi Jaynie
My partner and I have just bought a house and I like you with a small mortgage, were offered the opportunity to applied for a small life insurance policy but because of my diagnosis of ET I was turned down!! They actually got the diagnosis completely wrong as well. I was told I could reapply in three years!! I think they wanted to see if I was still alive??? I told them to forget it!! I have not bother since.
Sorry to say this but you will not get Mortgage Protection Insurance with this health condition. While this insurance is a normal requirement for a mortgage, the lender can use its discretion in such cases and usually agrees to dropping it where a medical condition prohibits its availability to the borrower. I hope your proposed mortgage provider will use this discretion in your case - go ahead and see what happens. If it fails, try another lender.
Thanks for your replies, I was afraid this might be the case. The mortgage is very small so I’m confident the lender will be happy with life cover for my partner only 🤞
