Hi folks, just want to have a bit of a moan. The last few weeks I have had lots of tummy problems, first my GP said I had IBS, but also felt that I had a flare up of my diverticulitis, gave me antibiotics and said only take if really unwell, well this last week the pain has been sooooo bad I gave in to the tablets, not good with antibiotics make me feel rough. Spoke with my Chemo nurse today and she suggested that I go to A&E but in so much pain could not make the journey, anyway did not want to pick anything else up and would I expect have to sit there fo a good four hours, going to give the tablets a chance to work and if no better by Monday go to A&E then.
This is not like me. Since being diagnosed with ET five years ago have got on with my life without too many problems, but at the moment am feeling really down, have a holiday coming up in Beautiful Devon and am now worried I am not going to make it.
Anyway folks moan over just want to fill like my old self again.

Hi Jean, every sympathy, I think a lot of people are having a hard time just now even in this sunny weather. You are entitled to moan especially if it makes you feel better. Funny, what you said about wanting to feel like your old self again - I said the same this morning but my moans are down to my osteoarthritis and nerve issues, not my PV.
Sending you a ton of E hugs just to let you know I’m thinking of you and understand. Kindest regards Aime xx😻😻
so sorry to hear of your suffering. You’ve done all the right things and hopefully, the pain/inflammation will diminish soon. Sounds like you have a good plan to visit A&E if there is no improvement by Monday.....sooner if necessary though. Hope you’ve got someone to keep an eye on you?
It’s understandable that you’re feeling down with this additional burden on top of your ET. A holiday in Devon will help lift your mood. Spoil yourself!
Hi Mary, yes got my hubby to look after me, although I am quite a tough old boot, this has knocked me for six, was hoping to start to fill better today, but still feel rough so might have to start taking the other antibiotic which is a lot stronger and I know for a fact makes me unwell, got to get myself feeling better before my holiday, did it last year and it a was wonderful holiday cottage on a farm in Bideford, overlooking the river Torridge and you have the Tara trail, although we have relatives that live in that area. So get to see them as well, just wonderful. So hope I feel better soon.
So hope you are feeling better soon and enjoy your Devon holiday. It is beautiful and green here at the moment and has just been refreshed with a little rain. Definitely worth a visit if you are up to it. Take care xx
Yes really looking forward to it, went to a lovely cottage in Bideford last year on a farm which was overlooking the river Torridge, and has a the Tarka trail near by, which my son in law loves to ride, so going back to the same farm but different cottage, plus my husband has family in Bideford, so will meet up with them too.
Just got to get myself feeling right, do not want to ruin the holiday for anyone else.
Hi Jean. Don't leave it if it's really painful. I have to have bowel surgery at the end of the month , which I am dreading but cannot wail to end the stomach ache and bloating.
Hi Mel, hope it is not to serious the operation, had a colonoscopy done a few years ago which told me I had eight pockets on diverticula maybe I have some more. What annoys me is that I eat a very good diet, I hardly ever drink, only loads of water!! That’s my tipple, sad I know.
Hi Jean. Just a large polyp that needs to be removed under a general, they think it's benign, but will know for sure after histology. I feel for you, I hear that it can be very painful. I hope you feel better really soon.
Hello Jean, you moan as much as you want to, we all understand. I do hope you are feeling better now, or a bit anyway, and I know this might sound daft, but try not to worry too much about going on holiday and being ok, this might be making it worse. You will have a lovely holiday and it will do you good to see your family in lovely Bideford, I love it there, my sister is on holiday at the moment in Westward Ho! with her children and grandchildren, it's a family tradition to go there every year, and we love Bideford and the Tarka trail. So you go and have a good time and enjoy yourself, it will do you world of good, and think of it this way, if you do have any pains, which I really hope you won't, at least you will be in a lovely place. I don't know if you have been given any advice about probiotics when taking antibiotics, but have a look at this advice from the Mayo Clinic
Hi Maz, still not feeling to good, but am on the antibiotics, just finished one lot and have started on another hoping that this will do the trick.
Yes I did see the article about taking probiotics when taking antibiotics or a plain yogurt, so have been trying to eat some total 5% Greek with live cultures also got some Yakult but they have sugar in so got to be careful. Going to go to a health shop today after another visit to the docs to get some Solray probiotics to take.
I am so looking forward to going to Devon, and do not want this to spoil it, also going with my daughter, her husband and grandchildren, and this place has its own pool this time so cannot wait only a week to go Yeh !! I know it sounds strange so looking forward to holidaying in this country once again as over the years my husband and I have traveled the world, but now there is no place like home and I love this country and all it’s beauty, and still much more to explore.
On another note some of my healthunlocked seem to go into my junk box not sure why this is happening wonder if anyone else has this happen good job I check, as do not want to miss anything.
The brand I used a few years ago were called Solaray quite expensive but they were brilliant but not sure if I can take because of the Hydroxycarbamide and the immune system not being on full form anymore.
Oh I know, now got to a point when anyone asks me what’s wrong I just smile and say, that there is nothing wrong, as I know that if I do say something it’s that look on their faces that’s says here we go again 🤨 so find it a comfort that I get support on here no matter what.
Thanks
Jean
PS feeling a bit better today so maybe the old drugs are working.
