Hello Just looking for some feedback. My mum is 70, a type 2 diabetic and of Indian heritage. We are UK based. She has just been diagnosed with having Essential Thrombocythaemia. As a result she will have to start (or will have started depending on when you read this) taking hydroxycarbamide tablets. Just keen to find out what others experiences of this are, particularly those who are 70+, and/or type 2 diabetic, and/or of indian heritage Thanks

Hi. I recall that when was (briefly) on Hydroxycarbamide I was warned that it might raise my cholesterol levels so I needed to get them checked regularly. I think there is evidence that people of Indian heritage are more likely to have raised cholesterol anyway, so your Mum might need to keep an eye on hers if she doesnt already. Good luck. Hope all goes well. .
