Hello Everybody can anyone recommend a good multivitamin tablet that would be suitable for an ET patient. Not sure which vitamins are ok and which should be avoided. Feel as though I need to build up my immunity and stamina a bit more.

Thankyou

Hi Juliet, I also have ET but was diagnosed back in Dec with pernicious anemia (a B12 deficency) in addition to being vitamin d deficient. I have to have b12 injections every few months and am taking vit d tablet daily, they both help enormously with fatigue and the immun system and are safe for us to take x

Thankyou for replying !

Hi Juliet46

I wouldn't recommend anyone multivitamin to anyone as we are all genetically different and some vitamins and minerals can do more damage than good, in excess. I would certainly get your GP to investigate folate and MTHFR gene mutations as a folate deficiency can cause increased Jak2 activity. Also vitamin A deficiency can significantly cause disrupted jak2 signalling.

Hi, I take b12 and chai seed every morning. The reason being that I’m always anaemic. My bloods show I have all the ingredients but can’t produce the HB.

It’s really important you check with your heamo.

I’m going to ask about CoQ10 on my next visit.

All little helps

I agree with the post thus far.

Have a word with your team .

Do not self medicate without instructions mainly the fact that you are not a professional person. You also need to consider absorption rates of what your body needs.

Taking the wrong amounts can act against your needs.

Ask your team to identify the deficits and then you can make an informers choice.

Hope you will feel better soon.

Keep well over this Easter time.

Hello Juliet

I take Silica for my hair and nails which works wonders. I'm also on Vit C and D combo for my bones. I'm on quite a lot of meds (including HU) and I don't take much else as quite a lot of supplements react with them, particularly the herbal supplements. You may want to run past any new supplements you are taking with your consultant just to be on the safe side.

Regards

Angela

Yes it is. You can buy them from Holland & Barrett. I've been on them for years and they have done wonders for my hair and nails. However, because I am on heart medication, they can, over time, slightly narrow the arteries because of the calcium and magnesium content. My cardiologist knows I am on them and I am now waiting to hear if I can take Sugar Hair Bear instead which mainly consists of Vitamins but as per normal I have to run everything I take past my consultants.

Hi Juliet, definitely check with your haem team first. We all have an MPN but are individuals in respect of our treatment and meds so it is vital you get an answer for you. Kindest regards Aime xx😺😺
