I am still fairly new to ET and pretty illiterate when it comes to the workings of the human body, so I have been trying to educate myself to better understand what is happening. In my searches I happened across a really helpful YouTube video of an on-line lecture by Khan University Medical (USA) explaining MPN's in general and ET in particular. It is a couple of years old and so refers to MPD rather than MPN and it seems to predate the use of DNA to confirm JAK2 mutation, but for me it was an enlightening experience that I would recommend to anyone new to ET - and maybe a few 'old hands' too?
Anybody else notice the use of the term 'disorder' rather than neoplasm? MPD vs MPN. Not seeing a chronic malignant hematopathy and not calling it the 'C' word?
Thanks for the you tube video. It's a good summary and I've kept the link so that if family ask i can send them the link, rather than explain it myself. I think it would be useful for my parents to feel that they know what it's all about.
