Nothing like a new puppy to take your mind off your MPN. This is Teddy, he's a Shih Tzu and is now 12 weeks old. I've had him for 4 weeks and he is one bundle of energy! I'm shattered ! It's over 20 years since I had a puppy and had quite forgotten how time consuming they are. He's my 6am alarm clock, I'm hoping as he gets a bit older he will sleep a little longer. I'm looking forward to taking him for some nice walks when his legs have grown a little.
Best wishes

Hi Judy, , good on you getting a pup though as you say they are tiring. My last one was fairly easy as I had an older dog and pup followed her and copied so house training was a doddle compared to singletons I'd had. Got an aging Staffie now but she still acts like a pup when mood takes.
My G S D puppy is also 12 weeks now....he has given us and our 4yr old GSD,the most amusing ,tiring, lovely time.....he is gorgeous, not in the tiny sweet way of yours, she is so delightfully cuddly...he is already 16 1/2kilo, no way can I pick him up!!!! He has taken over the household.....best thing we have done ,filled the gap the loss of our other G S D. caused .,Have a great time with that little bundle of love Judy.Keep well you and pup.Sally
Thanks Sally, I will. Teddy weighs 3.2 kilos, so he is a good deal lighter than yours. I've just started walking him outside and it's ideal as I can pick him up when he gets tired. Your 4 year old must wonder what's hit him!
I used to do bed and board for the guide dogs for the blind. (One at a time) The last 8 weeks of their training when they were about 18 months old. I had a few Labs, but 1 GSD. She was absolutely beautiful and they are such loyal dogs. I loved having her before she went to her forever home. It was ideal as I was working full time and the trainer picked them up and returned them to my house each day, I then had them all weekend to do lots of walks.
My friend did that for Guide Dogs, she used to get soooo attached tho ! G S D's are fabulous dogs ,as you say so loyal and protective.Everyone of our friends said we were crazy to get a puppy with my P V etc ,and we were too old...!!!! But the 4yr old is thrilled to have a playmate, baby is his nephew, and we have had such pleasure since since his arrival at 8 weeks,ok I am especially tired, but not the ghastly P V tired we suffer from.I will try to post a pic,not sure how to do it.....not at all good with anything more than emails .....brain too old !!!! We used to have gites and some visitors brought a shitztu, our G S D s then(years ago) did not recognise 'Barney ' as a dog....some amusing things ensued....fortunately no serious incidents !!!!!Best to you Judy,Sally
The only way I have found to add a photo is to go into write a new post and the option is there to add a photo. Please try I would love to see you pup.
Thanks Judy, will give that a try today, daughter is with us I will get her to help!!!She has come to assist hubby and me,since I fractured femur, hop along on crutches, you can imagine how pup thinks it is a game!!x xSally
Thanks Jean, I'm sure he will be. I'm very lucky to have children and grandchildren all living locally , but being widowed for the last 10 years it's really great to have another focus in the home and some company in the evenings.
Definitely Judy, a dog is a constant companion ,loves without question,I think you have done the best thing and a pup takes your mind off the ghastly P V.Lots of pleasure to come.We do not have grand children, our only family is our precious daughter and son in law,so we rely on our dogs for company at home.Always there to greet when returning to the house.Keep well Judy, very best Sally
We lost our dog last Christmas and he's left a huge void in our lives. We're going to give it a year, and then we'll seriously consider having another dog.
