I am having E. T. From July 15.
I am taking Hydroxyurea 500 more than 18 months but my weight gain by 9kgs.
I would like to know that it is good sign or not.
Also suffering from Charmpes on six part of my body.

Hi, I'm sorry I can't help much but since no one else replied....I have ET, jak2+ and am on Hydroxy but haven't gained weight from it. Sorry but I don't know what Charmpes are but I don't have anything on my body. You may want to repost this with a question that's more detailed. Katie
I'm not going to be much help either. I have ET JAK2+, been on hydroxyurea 2.5 years, 500mg 5 days, 1000mg 2 days. In the last 3 months I have suddenly put on 9kgs without changing eating habits. I'm postmenopause 6yrs and they say that weight gain should be gradual not fast. I feel toxic.
Sorry, I've never heard of Charmpes - can you explain please.
Putting on 9kgs in 18 months sounds to be a lot to me. I too am on 500 Hydroxy and haven't put on any more weight - not lost any either more's the pity.
Weight gain is a common side effect i am afraid. I had a gastric bypass and went down from a size 26/28 to a 14. I was over the moon but then i had to start 1000mg of Hydroxy and have gone up 3 sizes even though i now hate the thought of eating. Hubby gets worried to death with how little i eat. I think you might mean CRAMPS over your body. Again another side effect of PV.
Hello and welcome to our forum, I am afraid I also don't know what you mean by Charmpes on six parts of your body, perhaps you could tell us what this is. With regards to your weight gain, you should speak to your doctor about this and perhaps ask for a referral to a dietician for some advice on diet and nutrition, gaining weight is not a reported side effect of Hydroxycarbamide, but with all medications, people react differently to the ingredients in them.
We have lots of useful advice on our website mpnvoice.org.uk

It's funny you should say that because before my diagnosis I was putting on weight. I was hardly eating anything I was going to my doctor in tears. I lived in France at the time. My platelets where high back then but I have an autoimmune problem too and they put it down to that. I moved back to u.k and I had an eye bleed. Got sent to haematology for various blood tests came back e.t jake 2 positive. Gor aspirin n hydroxy. Lost a stone. Look and feel better.... I find it easier now to lose weight than before....
