Hi George, welcome. I also have PV (with high platelets) and was diagnosed in 2014. I am 52. I started interferon last year and am doing very well on it, with normal counts now. Hope you are doing well. Susana

Hi Lesley,

I hope that you are fit and well? I wondered with you spending some of your time abroad if you suffer from heat rash and if so, how you deal with it. I enjoy walking, but even with shorts on I come out in a blotchy heat rash.

Kind regards

Hi George. I walk every day and don’t have any adverse side effects to report. Do you drink lots of water? Could you be allergic to your factor 50? 🤣. I use baby factor 50 as I’m allergic to anything with perfume in it - my thoughts are if it’s good enough for my granddaughters skin I’m sure its fine for me 😊. Where are you living? Lesley x

Hi Lesley,

Thank you for your reply. The factor 50 could be an issue. I will try the children's version. I live in Hull, which is East Yorkshire, but tend to walk out in the wilds.

Hey George, welcome. I'm 60 (turned just last week and trying to learn to say that number out loud!) and have PV JAK2 neg for 12 years now. Phlebotomies and 81 mg aspirin are what keeps my counts under control. Good luck, and you've found a great place for info and kinship.

Hi Carol, thank you for your message. I am not sure why my age came up as 56 on here, because I am 59. soon to be 60 too. I am really pleased to have found this site and all the people who have messaged me are lovely and positive. I was quite down when I was first diagnosed , but have come to terms with it now and this group has really helped to reinforce the positives. Thank you again for your message.
