Sooo funny!!!! Enjoy your Halloween Lizzie I know your dog's will be safe. I live in the country don't have the fireworks so have taken my daughter's dog just to be safe. Love her so much it's always a struggle giving her back!!!!!!

Thank you. Fortunately fireworks don't seem to bother my dogs, however a paper bag blowing in front of them can really startle them! I do feel sorry for the wild animals and birds when fireworks are going off. X

Hilarious!

For the first time in 23 years we're without a dog to worry about, had to have our lovely little Becky put to sleep about 5 weeks ago - kidney failure. Boy do I miss her, we're currently on Anglesey ( in gorgeous weather!) and she so loved walking here bless her. She was however terrified of fireworks and we had to have the tv turned up incredibly loud to try and muffle the sound! I hate fireworks, waste of time money and resources.....😡

Becks was our last dog, getting too long in the tooth for another and couldn't stand the heartache again.

Still, I'm now granny to the most gorgeous little cockapoo ( think that's as near as I'll get to grannydom for a year or two) so guess who'll be looking after him in the holidays?

Hope all well with everyone.

Louise

Lots of doggy rescue centres want volunteers to walk their dogs, which would give you your doggy fix! I'd never be able to do it as I'd bring them all home! It's horrendous when you lose a pet, we've said these are our "last" dogs as we too are getting older, we also have "grand dogs ", and just one grandson, hope we get more - of both 😄😄 x

Hi Lizzie,

Thanks. I'd be hopeless in a rescue centre, like you, I'd be bringing them all home.

If I'm ever a widow heaven forbid, I shall be one of those mad old women living with ten dogs!

Lost our lovely big black G S D suddenly last week to cancer ,so desperately missing him,we are both gutted.Younger G S D is grieving too, know what you mean about taking on a puppy, but how do you relieve heart ache of losing a much loved companion and friend of 10 years. Best to you Louise and to all.Sally

It's horrendous loving such loved members of the family. When we lost our beautiful Labrador 7 years ago we were devastated, our other dog was also very upset. However we adopted (almost accidentally) our mad lab/springer cross several months after losing our lovely lab and we always say "she was meant to be"!! She hasn't replaced our old dog just distracted us from missing him so much and has her own special place in our hearts.

Best wishes

Lizzie

Hi Sally,

6 weeks on the heartache's getting a bit easier....... I still carry her little collar in my jeans pocket, in the hope that she's running along beside me!

A little relief tonight though with all the fireworks - poor Becky hated them and was a quivering wreck.

This is the first time in 23 years we haven't had a dog, not easy but everyday will get better I think. Wonderful memories to look back on.

Love

Louise

Yes I think so Louise, like you many dogs thru our life time, heartache when we lose them. This one was very special, had seen me thru the bad days of P V,will miss his great presence for a long time. Like you too,the thought of the work and training of another is probably too much to contend with now.The young one is so miserable, never been an only dog,G S D's are superb ,intelligent dogs ,but need well handling and training, tiring for me now. Appreciate your mail, know why you carry the collar,I had just finished a portrait of my beautiful boy,but it is covered in the studio just now until I feel stronger, then it will hang with other loved dogs where I can see his dear face always.Thank You for your kind mail, Keep well and strong .Sally xx
