Hi I am taking HU and asprin daily but dr also gave me Medoprazole to protect my stomache! Anyone else taking this? To me it is another med and I don't want to take unnecessary stuff! Living in Cyprus and doc is not very keen in discussing with me just dismissive!

Hi Klys - I had stomach problems at first taking aspirin and the Dr at first recommended Lansoprazole, which did not agree with me then Pantoprazole, which didn`t suite either. Finally we decided on Enteric-coated aspirin - this did the trick. and I`ve had no problems since. I am also on HU which I tolerate reasonably well thank goodness. Hope this helps.

Hi I have ET on hydroxy and aspirin. I take lansoprazole. However this is because I have also have Barrett's oesophagus and it is important I take it to prevent further much more serious problems problems developing. I get ion OK with and it suppresses my acid reflux. However I appreciate your concern at taking another med especially if your doc won't discuss it. Maybe you could try returning to see him/her and ask if there is alternative like taking an enteric coated aspirin as sksar suggests. I would try again with your doc esp if it is worrying you. I have ET and am on HU and aspirin, I take lansparozole, it really helps reduce the excess acid I get in my stomach, and protects it from the aspirin. I know its another drug but it helps!

I think the mere fact that we are taking lots of meds is the reason one or another of the stomach protecting meds (usually with names ending in "prazole") are prescribed. I am on Pantoprazole but do have ulcers and hiatus hernia which it keeps well controlled. I think though they are prescribed also as a prevention measure to our delicate little stomachs being bombarded daily with strong medications of various types.x

Good morning Klys.Greetings from my universe.

I too take an tablet called omesaprole.

This has been prescribed to me as for my luck draw I also manage my type two Diabetis.

I am now on 11meds per day and space them out into neat pockets of twos through and fours at bed times

My hydro is 2pm as we take lunch between 12 - 2pm.

I now shake, rattle and roll.

However I do believe it's a boost to keep a sense of humour and shake your beauty at the beast. Ha Ha.

In friendship Annemarie.
