I've not been too bad while on the HU. I have had the flu jab, don't know whether than makes any difference. I try to avoid snotty people!! Haematologist just asks if I've had any health problems when I see them, not been told to inform them of a cold, only if anything worse!
Been on HU for 18 months - varying doses. not had any more colds or sore throats than usual and the ones I have had seem less severe. We are all different though....
I was on HU for about 14 years. I had few colds during those years, certainly no more than usual. I don't think HU allows more than usual colds. If I got a cold I increased my fluids (water), cut down caffeine and took as much Vit C as possible generally in the form of tablets and or oranges. Colds are very annoying and there's no cure, only things that make us feel a bit better. Throat lozenges, maybe. I also gargle with salt water several times a day. Tastes not as good as chocolate! But it did help with the sore throat. Do hope you are soon better and this era of frequent colds is soon spent.
